Oops - almost 2 months

So I'm backsliding a bit on the updates. Not much has been happening, just the normal workload, visitors and international intrigue - yeah, right :).

Heading up to Maine next week for reunion, which should be fun. I have some great new music to listen to on the roadtrip, thanks Lisa! Really enjoying the new Mat Kearney, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Matt Nathanson, James Morrison and Beyonce. Some great tracks in there!!

Looking forward to the new episode of Burn Notice in a few minutes - thanks to Lisa and Eileen for getting me hooked on that! REALLY looking forward to the weekend - which I'll spend mostly cleaning and taking care of some things before I head to Maine. Then I'm back in time for the Red Sox games at the Nationals ballpark - pretty happy about that as well. We'll see if I post again before or after that!!!

I hate being sick

So what I thought was allergies has now turned into a cold. I keep popping those alka-seltzer tabs to help me stop coughing. In a few hours I'll take the nighttime ones and hopefully sleep better. Hopefully that will make it go away!! I had so much to do today and none of it got done. Tomorrow's Easter, and then some sightseeing on Monday. Need to get my energy back!!!

House MD

So I love watching House, but have not been too obsessed - I like the medical mysteries and trying to guess the disease (hey, I think I got the Au chelation treatment right on the Tox Boards because of House!). So not being a fan of the new team was a bit annoying but I still watched. I don't follow the spoilers, so Kutner's death was a complete surprise - and for a moment I was afraid the actor (Kal Penn) was really dead, and that was why it was such an abrupt and startling event. But no, just a plot twist, which I hope is carried through a few more episodes to make it worth it. I wonder how we'd have felt if this had happened last year, during the time of the writer's strike and therefore before we kinda liked him. I do think there was some great acting in the episode - but really hope the writers don't drop the ball, and make this something worthwhile.

So I did take the pictures tonight - it seemed better than starting up a work project I wouldn't have time to finish. I'll post some here, but definitely go and check out the shop! I have to revamp that too, but that's going to be awhile. I will say, enjoyed making jewelry all day with Mac at my side. He's become quite affectionate. Josie came and checked on us often, but mostly enjoyed a quiet day in my room. Both cats are with me now - Mac is out for the count, Josie is waiting for me to go to bed.

Rainy Saturdays

I have a mile long list of things to do - finish organizing, put up shelves, get my dining room table together, manuscripts x 4, budget, mail packages, etc etc...so of course I spent the day making jewelry. I made some nice things (if I do say so myself) that have no purpose - sometimes I make things to match an outfit or for a specific person, but today was just looking at beads and having fun matching colors and sizes. I'll post pictures when I take them - I'm hoping to do that tomorrow, it's better when it's sunny.

I also FINALLY watched Shawshank Redemption. It's one of those movies that fell through the cracks for me (like Finding Nemo) - I never saw it when it first came out, and then time went on and on. I bought the DVD a few years ago, but just never got around to watching it. It is a great movie. Though probably not as life-changing as it was built up to be for me, but I did enjoy it.

I'm debating starting to work on my work-work now. It's almost 8:30pm, and I'm waiting on dinner and starting on the red wine...maybe not the best idea!

How much is that Josie in the window? Josie was helping me take pictures of my jewelry - if you look carefully at some shots you'll see her in the background.
And this is Mac attacking my new camera after Christmas. I just love his extra toes, and thought this was a fun picture of them.

This is interesting.

Cheese tasting at the Koshland

Excellent night at the Koshland Science museum. Dr. Catherine Donnelly from UVM gave a talk about the history and safety issues of cheeses - not what I was expecting exactly, but interesting. We also know some of the same people, so small world. The cheese was very good - all of them. I think my favorites were Mt. Tam Cowgirl Creamery Camembert and the Cabot Clothbound Cheddar. I also liked the Comte Reserve, though I didn't at first until I cleaned my palate with the Perrier :) This one took a bit to enjoy - but it was extremely good. The parmesan and bleu cheese were also both good, but not something I can eat a lot of by themselves.

Looking forward to a three day weekend of beads, papers, cleaning and finally (hopefully) putting together my dining room table. Since the dishwasher is now running, I feel I have already started on the cleaning. And that may also be the end of it :) I was very productive last week - here's hoping the same happens this weekend!

A few recent creations. All are still for sale at http://www.moerose.etsy.com/, though the bottom one may end up staying with me! There is just something about yellow jade that I really love!

How about 9 months since posting?

So I'm going to try to get this going again, and add more from my shop on Etsy. So I'll do my best to keep things interesting and pretty. My goal is to do all of this over the weekend - while also putting together my new dining room table, shredding all those pesky files in my dining room to make room for the new dining room table, making jewelry, working on manuscripts and doing a good solid clean of the apartment. Do you think I can do that in three days???

Who's cooler, Dan or Casey?

Cherry Blossom Season!

Cherry Blossom Season!
My first year in DC last year, and I timed my cherry blossom visit perfectly! Helps when you work walking distance from the tidal basin.
